Ara 대학 (Ara Institute of Canterbury)은 크라이스트처치에 위치한 캔터베리와 와이타키 지역의 국립 기술대학으로, 1906년부터 운영되었던 CPIT 대학과 Aoraki 대학이 2016년에 합병되면서 설립된 대학으로 뉴질랜드 남섬의 최대 국립 기술대학으로 자리매김하게 되었습니다.
Ara 대학은 크라이스트처치의 City campus와 Manawa campus, Woolston campus 및 Timaru campus, Oamaru campus, Ashburton campus를 운영하고 있으며, 6개 캠퍼스에 1,800여 명의 유학생을 포함한 17,000여 명의 학생들이 재학 중입니다.
유학생을 위한 영어 어학연수 과정과 대학 준비과정 (파운데이션) 및 Certificate 과정, 디플로마 과정, 학사 및 석사 과정이 제공되고 있으며, 요리, 간호, 경영, 엔지니어링, 응용과학, 교육, IT, 건축, 음악 그리고 디자인 프로그램 등 150개 이상의 프로그램을 제공하고 있습니다. 또한 뉴질랜드에서 유일하게 Broadcast and Media(Broadcast Journalism, Radio Broadcasting) 과정도 제공되고 있습니다.
ARA 대학은 부족 직업군 관련 학과 및 유학 후 이민의 다양한 선택이 가능한 폭 넓은 코스를 제공하고 있습니다. 학습 모델 및 코스 내용은 산업 및 지역의 요구에 부응할 수 있도록 지속적으로 발전시키고 있으며, 학생들이 현장 실전 경험을 쌓을 수 있도록 인턴쉽과 실습 기회를 제공하고 있습니다.
